Description

Salary range: $16.50/hour - $16.75/hour

Essential Duties:



  • Be directly responsible for the tasks of daily living for participants as assigned from one to five participants.
  • Review medical alert and special care information for the participants in the cabin.
  • Conduct opening and closing body check with one other staff member.
  • The tasks of daily living include things such as changing clothes, keeping track of clothes and other belongings, daily hygiene (face washing, tooth brushing, showering, toileting, eating, putting participants to bed, waking them up, etc.)
  • Walking participants from place to place during the program.
  • Engaging participants in the recreational activities at the camp (art/crafts, athletics, cooking, etc.)
  • Assisting with loading and unloading the participants from the bus including lifting participants in and out of wheel chairs and moving luggage.
  • Sleep in the cabins with the participants and be on call for the Overnight Counselor who supervises the participants while asleep.
  • Fulfill job responsibilities not listed here that are important to the success of the program.
  • Complete Daily Log and Progress Notes as directed.
  • Cleaning the cabin as needed.
  • Abide by personnel policies governing staff behavior while staff and participants are in residences at the camp.
  • Cabin Counselors are supervised directly by the Cabin Leader.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Experience in working with children
  • Previous experience working with special needs children in and out of a school setting.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors, and spend several hours walking and moving about
