Project in Aurora, CO is seeking a skilled and motivated Control Engineer 4 with 10+ years of experience. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and is ready to take ownership of key integration tasks while collaborating with cross-functional teams and clients. This role will report directly to the project's onsite senior engineer. All work will be performed 100% onsite in Aurora, CO.


Responsibilities

  • Execute Generator Auxiliary Systems (GAS) testing, sequencing, and weekly demonstrations for internal and external stakeholders. Including DEF, Compressed Air, and Fuel.
  • Assist in generator controls setup by identifying and logging OEM devices (e.g., PQMs, UPSs).
  • Support load-center integration efforts, including upgrades to legacy control systems and documentation recovery (e.g., wiring diagrams, sequence of operations).
  • Collaborate with electricians, engineers, and site reps to resolve installation issues such as PLC panel spacing and missing documentation.
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues (e.g., latency, hardware communication failures) and coordinate with internal teams for resolution.
  • Contribute to onboarding and mentoring of junior staff, sharing field knowledge and best practices.
  • Manage dual-system IT setups (on-domain/off-domain laptops), including software access, VMware environments, and offline workflows.
  • Participate in weekly and quarterly planning to align technical execution with project milestones.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Hands-on experience in field integration and controls, preferably in fuel systems, low voltage switchgear, or industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with generator control systems and ability to interpret OEM device configurations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking.
  • Comfortable working with legacy systems and reverse engineering undocumented platforms.
  • Prepare systems for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Final Walkthrough Testing (FWT), ensuring readiness and client satisfaction.
  • Effective communicator in client-facing scenarios, including live demos and training.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to shifting priorities and timelines.
  • Collaborative team player who contributes to both technical execution and team culture.

Technical Requirements

Candidates should have experience with at least one of the following:

    • PLC or SCADA programming platforms - Rockwell, Emerson, Ignition, or similar
    • HMI/GUI development tools
    • Industrial instrumentation and control systems
    • Field commissioning and FAT/FWT processes
    • Virtualization tools (e.g., VMware)
    • Industrial communication protocols and diagnostics (e.g., HART communicators)

Education / Experience

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of experience

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time. Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.

Pay Range

USD $124,880.00 - USD $187,320.00 /Yr.
