The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse and to/from job sites. This role supports the logistics and supply chain operations by ensuring accurate inventory control, timely material movement, and compliance with safety protocols.


Responsibilities

  • * Receive, verify, and record incoming materials and equipment.
    * Store items in designated locations using appropriate methods (e.g., labeling, tagging).
    * Issue materials and supplies to internal teams based on requisitions.
    * Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile discrepancies.
    * Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
    * Assist with loading/unloading deliveries and organizing laydown areas.
    * Perform routine inspections of stock for damage or wear and report issues.
    * Support logistics planning and execution for project mobilization and demobilization.
    * Cleaning and maintaining supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
    * Developing a working knowledge of and using internal software systems including the Material Requisition System, Equipment Transfer System, and Procurement Mobile.
    * Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.

Qualifications

Education:

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with a High School Diploma / GED or
  • 1+ years with an Associate's Degree

Proficiency with electrical design build industry materials and equipment, and Logistics Service Center processes and procedures at M.C. Dean, including but not limited to the following skills and abilities:

  • Must have demonstrated experience and proficiency with intermediate level MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have excellent reporting and tracking skills, along with a consistent record of accomplishment of accuracy, high productivity, professional level work ethic, and strict compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate competency with managing critical tasks individually such as controlling the consignment programs, tool management, managing the lay down area, and/or loading and unloading zones and various other individual responsibilities as assigned

Abilities:

  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
