Description

What you will do:

As the Automated Controls Manager, you will own all controls-related products including AERprocess, VFDs, AERtronic, and products of the Industrial Control Panel. Ownership will incorporate marketing research, competitor analysis, pricing, and internal & external training. This position will work closely with both the Electrical & Controls Engineering teams as well as the Sales Team to ensure successfully implementation in our customers' solutions.

* Conduct thorough market research to understand customer needs, competitive landscape, and industry trends to inform product improvements and marketing strategies. (Business Intelligence)

* Provide marketing with key product information (features, benefits, ROI, etc.) and implement a marketing plan and define supporting collateral requirements. (Literature and Marketing)

* Create requirements for new products; work with sales / service, engineering, and sourcing to develop a well-defined solution. Develop and maintain product roadmaps for Controls, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and objectives. (Product Development)

* Utilize CRM tools (Salesforce) to collect real time information. (Opportunity Pipeline)

* Train inside and outside sales and service entities on applications, solutions, product value, competitors, and differentiators. (Internal Training)

* Support the development of best practices documentation for starting up projects which include Controls. (Internal Training)

* Facilitate and support customer training programs and seminars around our products / solutions and their value to customers. (External Training)

* Provide quotes and technical support for AERprocess, Controls, and VFDs. Train Application Engineering teams to become proficient in Controls quoting. Assist in determining and implementing product pricing and discounting strategies. (Quoting, Pricing)

* Work closely with the Electrical Engineering team as it is related to the Industrial Control Panel and suppliers. This will include the successful launch and marketing of the ICP Shop; as well as supporting the sourcing strategy from existing and new suppliers. (Production)

* Support quality and performance related issues in application. Gather and summarize details of issues and share with USA engineering team. Work to identify root cause and support product improvements. (Quality)

* Work with finance to estimate product line profitability by considering as-sold-profitability, warranty and goodwill cost (including labor), and aftersales profit. (Profitability)

* Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept through to end-of-life, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with market demands. (Lifetime of Revenue)

* Work with Supply Chain to develop parts lists to support the lead-time expectations, localization efforts, warranty, service, and spare parts needs. (Inventory)

* Regularly engages with peers in an effort to provide customers with a larger scope of supply and a more inclusive solution. (Product Integration)

* Support global growth and product development initiatives in controls and industrial control panel products, working closely with Product Line managers and other sale and production entities under the direction of the Director of Engineering and Manager of Product Management. (Global Coordination)

Requirements

Education:

A bachelor's degree (four-year college or technical school) required. Field of Study preference: Engineering

Experience:

3-5 years of related sales engineering and/or engineering design experience. Experience in Control Systems and/or Variable Frequency Drives is a plus.

Other Skills:

Excellent planning, communication, organization, and execution skills; high attention to details and ability to analyze large amounts of data; analytical and logical thinker who can problem-solve and implement solutions, excellent with time management. Ability to travel 25-35% of the time including conditions during inclement weather.

Technology Aptitude/Skills:

Technical mindset with strong problem-solving ability. Experience with Navision would be a plus. Expert in Excel, with advanced knowledge of the other Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider a plus. Will learn and utilize other software systems in the role.

Language Skills: Advanced verbal and written communication skills; able to present to groups and educate/train others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work performed in a LEED Certified, general office environment, and shop and warehouse location. Cement floors, daylight, seasonally adjusted temperatures. Overhead cranes, moving forklifts on a consistent basis. Welding arcs are being used. Exposure to paints, solvents, degreaser, adhesives/sealants, and oils. Position may require availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. May also require participation and attendance at organization-sponsored events and meetings.
