Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of each current business unit, including their strategic priorities, competitive landscape, product development, and industry trends.
- Work with each operating business (domestic and international, both product companies and distribution) in developing growth strategy, concentrating on identifying current gaps and then identifying acquisition targets for filling those gaps.
- Work with each business unit to identify potential acquisition targets, initiate contact with targets, present target company information to the respective operating company and Rite-Hite management teams, make acquisition recommendations, coordinate subsequent due diligence, and assist in negotiations and development of integration plans.
- Work with company leaders (HR, IT, Accounting/Finance, Intellectual Property, etc.) to assess target company compatibility and integration issues.
- Work with the Corporate Development team to build detailed operational and valuation models to assist with determination of target valuation.
- Where acquisition of targets is found to not be a viable strategy, research and execute alternative business development strategies, including strategic alliances, licensing arrangements, and equity investments, as appropriate.
- Assist in the development and application of metrics designed to determine the success of business development activity.
- Where portions of the business are determined to no longer be a good strategic fit within the Rite-Hite family of companies, works with operating company and Rite-Hite Holding management to develop and execute a divestiture strategy.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of each Rite-Hite business unit, domestic and abroad, and work with them to leverage acquisition and other business development activities as successful tools in strategic growth plans.
- Develop and implement a robust process model for acquisition and other business development activities from needs assessment and target acquisition through target integration, including analysis of the success of those activities and suitable revision and improvement of those processes.
- Advise leadership teams throughout the acquisition and integration process, contributing to thorough due diligence research, accurate valuations, successful negotiations, and effective integration of targets.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- This position requires five or more years of Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or other primary investing experience.
- MBA and prior experience in the material handling or warehousing industries is preferred.
