Position Purpose







This position is responsible for ensuring all patients have been secured financially or fully screened and assisted with application(s) for government, local assistance and/or charity application, wherever applicable and that all regulatory and payer requirements are met to ensure a billable/payable claim. The Supervisor will ensure that all patients are respected and treated fairly in the process of these qualifications. This position is responsible for maintaining departmental standards of excellence as established by Renown Health's Values and the Manager of Patient Financial Assistance.





















Nature and Scope







The Supervisor of Patient Financial Assistance must possess an in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and programs available to uninsured patients as well as knowledge of medical insurance policies and procedures. The Supervisor will ensure that all patients are secured with a payer source and that patients with limited or no payer source are screened for government assistance in a timely, professional manner. This leader will also ensure that all Financial Assistance program policies are adhered to and access to this service is available for our patients wherever applicable.

The Supervisor will monitor and evaluate daily work volumes and inventories throughout the verification, eligibility and application process to ensure all applicable timelines are met while determining coverage and/or payer sources for these patients. The Supervisor will maintain current knowledge of eligibility programs and ensure department policies and procedures are adhered to.

The supervisor will plan, develop and implement department procedures. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring appropriate hiring practices, staff evaluations, ongoing training and orientation of employees. The supervisor must demonstrate high leadership standards of professional conduct, courtesy, diplomacy and respect for confidentiality. In addition, the supervisor will be responsible for Kronos, monthly schedules and ensure the necessary coverage for department operations of the financial assistance process. Maintaining and preparing monthly and quarterly statistical reports will be done to assure the quality of the work provided by the staff of the department. The position may be required to be on call and/or work nights and weekends.

The Supervisor will ensure all staff in this department are kept current on regulations and procedures and that they have the tools they need to perform their duties at optimal levels. This department and its staff must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality while performing financial screenings and qualifications.

The Supervisor will ensure that we always provide excellent customer service to all of our patients in this unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Description



Education:



Bachelor's degree preferred. Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.



Experience:



Two years acute hospital business office experience required with a minimum of one year supervisory experience preferred. Must have proven experience in acute hospital account resolution. Associate or Bachelor's degree can be substituted for one-year acute hospital experience.



License(s):



Valid State of Nevada or California driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.



Certification(s):



Pass and maintain a Nevada Division of Insurance Exchange Enrollment Facilitator Certification within twelve (12) months of hire date.

Nevada DWSS Hospital Presumptive Eligibility Certification within twelve (12) months of hire date.

Candidates already certified will be given preference.



Computer / Typing:



Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
