Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications


  • CDL Class B or Higher
  • Prior related truck driving work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Experience working with all types of sanitation / waste disposal equipment and infrastructure
  • Experience working with automotive fluids, parts, inventory
  • Experience operating Forklift and/or pickup truck and trailer


Position Summary
This position reports to the Waste Reduction Supervisor. Driver 3 is able to operate all heavy equipment/ CDL-Required waste collection vehicles, including front end loader, rear loader, and rolloff cable/hook hoist vehicles. This role performs predetermined daily collections routes and waste management operations as assigned by the Operations Lead and Waste Reduction Supervisor to transport and deliver landfill, recyclable, organic, and specialty materials. In addition to daily assignments, this role provides waste management collection service for seasonal and special events and activities. This position also assists Supervisors with training of new and current employees
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of the hazards involved in equipment operation and the safety precautions necessary.
  • Prior related truck driving work experience and be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Work around Sanitation Disposal waste/trash
  • Basic experience/knowledge in using technology, such as computers, tablets, radios, GPS, routing software, or email.


Physical Demands

  • Stand, walk, stoop, bend, squat, lift, climb stairs, sit and work with hands above head during a normal 8 hour shift.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs.

  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of dumpsters and other assets, as well as the immediate space around assets, by picking up loose debris and litter.
  • Perform waste management collection service for seasonal and special events and activities.

  • Performs routine maintenance checks and services on vehicles (e.g., greasing, checking air pressure, oil and other fluid levels, washing, etc.) and determines that vehicle is in proper working condition prior to operation
  • Completes daily pre- and post- route vehicle inspection checks
  • Informs appropriate personnel of necessary minor or major repairs to vehicles
  • Washes vehicle(s) on a regular basis, as frequently as determined by supervisor

  • Communicates logistical and waste reduction opportunity observations on campus, including contaminated recycling, blocked dumpsters, educational opportunities for customers
  • Use technology, such as computers, tablets, smart phones, radios, GPS, routing software, email, and or texting to effectively communicate with supervisors and other drivers.
  • Provide, remove, and/or relocate assets and infrastructure on campus, including roll carts, dumpsters, and signage.
