Position Summary

Reporting directly to the General Counsel and Secretary ("GC"), the AGC, Labor & Employment is a senior member of the Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Corporate Affairs, and Sustainability ("LCAS") team and a business and strategic partner to the People and business teams. This newly defined position will serve as the company's chief labor, employment, benefits, and executive compensation ("L&E") counsel providing advice and guidance to management on all L&E matters impacting the company. The successful candidate will be a "roll-up your sleeves" leader who is a team player, is comfortable driving change, values accountability, and is looking to make a tremendous impact. They also have strong personal drive, energy, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with high expectations for responsiveness. This is an opportunity to join a new GC to shape the LCAS function for the future.

Key Responsibilities

* Be a trusted advisor and strategic legal partner to the Chief People Officer, the People team, and the business teams on U.S., multi-jurisdictional, and global L&E, employee relations, and policy related matters
* Provide advice and legal support related to compliance with the breadth of global, federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the workplace
* Develop, build, and implement scalable global L&E policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations within the U.S. and all countries in which the company does business
* Oversee and drive the strategy for the company's employment litigation and claims, including working with outside counsel and internal teams and managing costs to ensure effective use of resources
* Provide legal support and guidance with respect to compensation and benefits related matters, such as FLSA and compensation and equity incentive plans
* Draft, review, analyze and negotiate all employment-related agreements including consulting, recruitment and hiring, terminations, compensation and severance plans, incentive, non-compete, and confidentiality agreements
* Proactively identifying legal risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the interests of the company; keep the company's senior management abreast of significant employment and labor decisions, legislation, and regulatory rulings that may affect the company's business or policies
* Develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the company's business, its people, markets, facilities, customers, and competitors in order to identify trends and formulate appropriate structures and strategies

Key Qualifications

* Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; and actively licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
* 15+ years of progressive legal experience with a focus on labor, employment, benefits, and executive compensation practice, gained through a combination of law firm and in-house roles.
* Experience as a senior member of the Legal leadership team of a U.S. public company with global operations is required; and experience in packaging, manufacturing, or consumer products is strongly preferred.
* Experience serving as a trusted partner and advisor to the Chief People Officer, People team, and business teams is required; experience supporting the compensation committee of the board of directors is preferred.
* Experience conducting sensitive, internal, or related investigations, developing employment and compliance related training programs and initiatives, and managing employment litigation and dispute resolution.
* Experience with privacy; health and safety; ethics and compliance programs; and/or mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures is a plus.
