Salesforce is an immediate opportunity for a Principal Member of Technical Staff Software Engineer in the Platform Schema and Metadata area who wants to have a significant and measurable positive impact on users, the company's bottom line, and the industry. You will be working with a group of world-class engineers to build the breakthrough features our customers will love, adopt, and use while keeping our trusted CRM platform stable and scalable. The software engineer role at Salesforce encompasses architecture, design, implementation, and testing to ensure we build products right and release them with high quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and own end-to-end scalable services that can be integrated with numerous applications, support thousands of tenants, and operate at scale in production.

  • Make design decisions on the basis of performance, scalability, portability, and future expansion.

  • Drive system efficiencies through automation, including capacity planning, configuration management, performance tuning, monitoring, and root cause analysis.

  • Develop high-quality, production-ready code that can be used by millions of users of our cloud platform.

  • Work in a Hybrid Engineering model and contribute to all phases of SDLC including design, implementation, code reviews, automation, and testing of the features.

  • Participate in periodic on-call rotations and be available to resolve critical issues.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional Engineering teams to understand customer requirements, design prototypes, and bring innovative technologies to production.

Required Skills:

  • 12+ years of software development experience, including backend software development, designing and developing distributed systems at scale.

  • Deep knowledge of object-oriented programming and other scripting languages: Java, Python, Scala C#, Go, Node.JS and C++.

  • Strong PostgreSQL/SQL skills and experience with relational and non-relational databases including writing queries.

  • Solid experience in API development, API lifecycle management and/or client SDKs development.

  • A deeper understanding of software development best practices.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and leadership skills.

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Salesforce APIs and technologies

  • Ability to support/resolve production customer escalations with excellent debugging and problem solving skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills; the ability to tackle problems the world has yet to solve.

  • Demonstrated track record of cultivating strong working relationships and driving collaboration across multiple technical and business teams.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $211,500 to $306,600. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,800 to $334,600.
