About the Laboratory

Dr. Wensi Wu at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar or research associate scientist with expertise in machine learning methods for biomedical simulations. The candidate will work collaboratively with researchers from the Jolley Lab at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the PICSL-Pouch Lab at the University of Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will contribute to leading-edge projects focused on the development of novel machine learning methods for cardiovascular modeling.

Primary Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of machine learning algorithms.
  • Evaluate machine learning model performance.
  • Submit a 1-2 page progress report each month documenting details about the progress made, challenges faced, and plans for the upcoming month.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications in top peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to the intellectual community of the research group.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline).
  • A high level of initiative and self-motivation to advance machine learning methods in biomedical research.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with lab members.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Expertise in machine learning methodologies and state-of-the-art neural network architectures.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a high standard regarding research integrity and rigor.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data.

  • Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator).

  • Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills.

  • Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops.

  • Supervise junior lab members.

  • Assist with other research projects as needed.

SALARY RANGE:

$20,800.00 - $110,400.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
