Job Details

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To use their training in Hematology, biochemistry, and molecular biology to design and execute experiments related to an ASH/AHA/NIH-sponsored research project in the lab.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: A postdoctoral position is available for candidates to contribute to the identification of novel regulatory mechanisms that allow platelets to produce an optimal response to vascular injury. Using CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), well-established vascular injury models, and various biochemical approaches, we have provided strong evidence that defects in the regulation of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling translate into in vivo phenotypes and impact platelet functions. Ongoing research projects include: 1) the function of GPCR kinases (GRKs) in hemostasis and thrombosis, 2) the regulatory networks that regulate platelet activation, and 3) genome-wide screening for novel genes and regulators in platelets and megakaryocytes. The candidate must have experience with molecular and cellular biology and have experience working with transgenic mice. A background in hematology would be viewed favorably. This position provides an excellent opportunity to grow scientifically and work with a dynamic group of investigators studying important and exciting aspects of vascular thrombosis.
