Description

Position Title: Learning Resources (Library) Student Worker

Department: Learning Resources

Approximate Hours per Week: 20

Wage: 15.97

Primary Duties:

The library student worker operates under the general direction of the Newkirk Learning Commons librarians. The student usually works in the Learning Commons at the end of their school day or when night classes are occurring, although there are times when additional hours may be negotiated.



  • Support to faculty and students with accommodations testing; must be conscientious, dependable, responsible.
  • Help maintain the orderly and tidy appearance of the Learning Commons
  • Ensures access to all library materials - may need to re-shelve books and magazines.
  • Provides computer hardware/ software support for students working in the Library.
  • Check in and out library materials
  • Collect statistics on library user requests
  • Security/ Reliability: Security is always the most important duty of the Library student worker, and overrides all else. It is important the Library student worker is reliable, shows up for work on time, and remains in the Library at all scheduled times.

Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines

Ability to work independently

Willing to provide customer service to faculty, staff, students

Reliable and be able to show up for shifts or alert Learning Resources staff when there are schedule conflicts
