POSITION PURPOSE: Protect the Resort assets by providing timely deposits and reporting, ensuring system integrity of all Resort settlements, maintaining associated records and databases, supporting current internal control procedures and documents and providing assistance to the accounts payable position.

Key Responsibilities - Overview:

  • Responsible for daily preparation and balancing of resort cash and gift card transactions.

  • Ensure Resort is adequately prepared to handle cash needs of operations 365 days.

  • Responsible for a working knowledge of the property management system (Opera) and all point of sales systems (Book4Time and Siriusware) as they pertain to settlement transactions.

  • Ensure that Audit Trail is evident throughout all tasks.

  • Provide daily reporting of cash variances; communicating immediately to accounting management any significant variances.
  • Communicate, document and retain cash handling policies and contracts presented to associates upon issuance of banks.
  • Liaison to associates for questions / challenges with cash handling responsibilities.
  • Maintain Resort's petty cash and ensure all proper use and documentation requirements are followed.
  • Audit all cashiers banks as defined by Resort and Corporate policies.
  • Support and aid the Accounts Payable position immediately following above responsibilities by acquiring a working knowledge of the purchasing system (Birchstreet) and the accounting system (Peoplesoft), processing payments to vendors, ensuring proper documentation procedures and all tax laws are followed and participating in monthly close duties to include but not limited to the production of all entity accruals.
  • Identify system conflicts and directly resolve these conflicts with approval of system change documentation approved by accounting management.
  • Identify and present process and system improvements to accounting management.
  • Complete various management reports as required by accounting management depending on the needs of hotel operations.
  • Complete various other accounting tasks and duties as required by accounting management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

2. Must be computer literate and embrace learning new softwares.

3. Intermediate knowledge of Excel and other MS-Office suite products

4. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends, in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.

5. Must have a thorough working knowledge of hospitality accounting department procedures and willingness to assist in other accounting functions as assigned.

6. Must have a commitment to follow all local and corporate policies and procedures as they relate to Cash Handling.

7. Must work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner.

8. Experience with business writing as it relates to training documentation preferred

9. Ability to complete goals within deadlines specified by management and the corporate office.

10. Must be able to work independently.

11. Excellent people skills.

12. Must meet grooming standards.

13. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse situations and collect accurate information and professionally resolve problems.
