Primary Purpose of the Organization: |
The Coordinator of the
FSU Professional Development School (
PDS) Network serves as the liaison to public school principals, on-site coordinators, and the School of Education. The Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean of the School of Education and works closely with the Director of the Office of Teacher Education in the placement of candidates during upper level field experiences and internships.
The Coordinator works with public school representatives to define an annual strategic professional development plan, based on the results of annual needs assessment survey; coordinates the
PDS Network by collaborating with all schools in the Network; maintains records and data on all
PDS activities; coordinates experts within the
SOE, other schools and colleges, and public schools to provide professional development activities for in-service and pre-service teachers; chairs yearly planning meeting; coordinates bi-monthly
PDS Council meeting; teaches one undergraduate course (seminar); and participates on the
SOE Administrative Team as requested by the Dean. |
Primary Purpose of the Position: |

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements: |
- A Master's Degree in Education is required.
- Experience as a teacher or school administrator in public education and knowledge of higher education policies and practices are also required.
- Specialized Qualifications include a certification in a specialized education field or the ability to obtain certification in a specialized field for which the SOE has a program leading to certification or degree.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: |
- Must have knowledge of field experience placements;
- Must understand professional development activities and use of needs analysis to guide those activities.
- The successful candidate must reflect writing skills in addition to other skills such as networking, public relations, time management, persistence, facilitation, self-efficacy, and grant writing;
- Knowledge of technology software and a capacity to learn how to use technology-related programs to enhance the 21st Century application of technology by candidates in the SOE in the PDS Network is highly important.
- A positive and approachable disposition and the ability to multi-task are required.
- Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Good interpersonal skills with the schools and administration of the school district contacts in the FSU service area;
- Ability to promote strong relationships with SOE Departmental Chairs, program coordinators and clinical faculty responsibility for field experiences, internships and program revisions;
- Ability to promote and facilitate professional development components of grants related to collaboration with school personnel and faculty development goals and service to schools and placement partners;
- Ability to development plans with the SOE administrative team for the implementation of strategic priorities of FSU as they relate to the conceptual framework of the School of Education.
- Adherence to all accreditation-related field experiences and clinical practice mandates from local, state, and specialized professional associations affiliated with NCATE (CAEP).

Preferred Qualifications: |
An earned doctorate degree in education is preferred. |
