Summary of Position

The Senior Director of Commercial Strategy will serve as a strategic partner to the SVP of Commercial, facilitating the execution of key initiatives across Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Commercial operations and other commercial functions. This role is designed to provide strategic and operational support to the SVP of Commercial, ensuring the successful execution of commercial initiatives and the achievement of business objectives.



This role is responsible for helping to determine the long-term commercial strategy, driving cross-functional alignment, overseeing strategic planning processes, and ensuring operational excellence to support the organization's commercial objectives. The incumbent will act as a liaison between the SVP internal and external stakeholders, providing analytical insights and managing special projects to enhance decision-making and organizational efficiency.



The ideal candidate will possess innovation, insight, commercial acumen, and broad market perspective to provide commercial strategy expertise for our company. Compelling candidates will have strategic consulting expertise, well-rounded capabilities as well as pharmaceutical industry experience. Commercial, Marketing, Market Access and Analytics expertise are particularly valuable for this role.

Essential Functions

  • Work to develop and drive alignment on the long term commercial strategy for Curium's therapeutic products
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the SVP, preparing briefing materials, managing meeting agendas, and representing the SVP in cross-functional meetings as needed.
  • Lead and manage special projects, including product launches, organizational initiatives, and process improvements, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and market dynamics.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination among Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and other departments to drive integrated commercial strategies.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of key operational processes, including business reviews, performance tracking, and resource allocation.
  • Leverage existing data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to generate actionable insights, support decision-making, and measure the impact of strategic initiatives.
  • Establish a productive work environment by creating trust and respect within the Therapeutic Areas (TAs).
  • Develop internal and external customer relationships that successfully drive business objectives.
  • Develop and oversee budget for assigned initiatives, manage consultants/agencies for key projects.
  • Maintain operational compliance with US and international regulatory agencies and guidelines (i.e. FDA, EU, HC, TGA, PIC/S, ISO, USP, NRC, cGMP, etc.).

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a focus on commercial strategy, operations, or related areas. Experience in a Chief of Staff role or management consulting is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proven track record and experience delivering on core marketing competencies and strategic initiatives with tangible commercial results
  • High business acumen distilling complex commercial problems, create structured framing, assessments, and actionable recommendations in collaboration with commercial colleagues
  • Analytical expertise and external landscape knowledge to build data driven insights to inform recommendations
  • Strong ability to influence decision-making in a highly matrixed organization, demonstrating empathy, collaboration, and high emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity, exceling in bringing cross-functional colleagues together leading high-priority initiatives
  • Ability to prioritize time and problem solve to focus on most impactful initiatives
  • Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills; ability to speak effectively with senior management and across all levels of the business.

  • Up to 25% travel required
  • Remote work acceptable with frequent trips to the St. Louis office
