Job Summary
The Senior Healthcare ADTS Engineer will be responsible for recommending appropriate engineered materials for applications defined by our healthcare strategy. Additionally, the Engineer will assist customers in designing and developing applications using CAE tools. The candidate will also participate in resolving customer complaints as needed.

Key Responsibilities
* Recommend suitable engineered materials and thermoplastic elastomers for customer applications.
* Assist in designing and developing customer applications using CAE tools.
* Participate in the resolution of customer complaints.
* Travel up to 60% within North America.

Essential Functions
* Ability to interview and document customer application needs
* Communicate effectively and provide material / development recommendations by conducting core team reviews
* Provide development engineering services to include part design, mold tool design and process design
* Support healthcare customers with development projects from concept through validation and launch
* Ability to evaluate customer designs by utilizing CAE tools (SolidWorks, Moldflow, FEA)
* Create product part, mold tooling and processing / troubleshooting literature
* Attend process trials of new and existing products and document feedback
* Engage customers on quality issues as well as process and technology questions
* Construct presentations and provide processing and design training to the customer
* Additional support as needed to internal customers - Sales, Product Management, Technology, Manufacturing.
* Familiarization of current and legacy product portfolio.
* Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
* Bachelors in Plastics Engineering, polymer science, chemistry or related Engineering field required.
* Advanced degree or experience a plus
* 7+ year's related experience (including internship/co-op experience) preferred
* Experience in medical device design or manufacturing is a plus
* Experience in biopharmaceutical tubing manufacturing
* Understanding of medical device application requirements is a plus
* Strong grasp of healthcare regulatory and quality standards
* Strong understanding of profile extrusion (tubing) and injection molding processes
* Experience with thermoforming and blown film is a plus

Additional Qualifications
Technical Competence
* Proficiency with CAE (SolidWorks, Moldflow and FEA) software
* Strong mold and part design skills
* Understanding of plastics materials and processing (injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, etc.)
* Capability to think outside the box and work on cutting edge concepts
* Performs work with speed and accuracy
* Adheres to internal Avient policies and rules.
* Interprets Technical Data sheets (TDS) / Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and provide proper instruction

Leadership / Communication Skills
* Strong communication skills required, both oral and written (technical and non-technical)
* Able to present ideas and results in a logical manner
* Receptive to ideas and feedback
* Responds to emails/calls and provides detailed reports in appropriate fashion and timeframe.
* Understands project purpose and commitment required
* Works seamlessly with others without difficulty.
