Our mission is to promote interdisciplinary research in neuroinflammation, which is recognized as a common factor in the development of diseases ranging from hypertension and obesity to Alzheimer's disease and depression. Faculty from diverse backgrounds collaborate to improve scientific understanding of the mechanisms of neuroinflammation-findings that will have important clinical implications in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.

The Center for Neuroinflammation and Cardiometabolic Diseases at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Technician II to provide support to University Research Services & Administration.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position will provide support to University Research Services & Administration.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



  • Management of the mouse breeding colony, ordering of mice and maintenance of the laboratory animal inventory.
  • Summarize and maintain histological and microscopic analysis of brain tissue samples.
  • Assists with routine surgeries on lab mice. Assists with behavioral neuroscience research involving gonadectomy and stereotaxic brain surgery, animal behavior testing, and data analysis.
  • Assists in training lower-level lab assistants on basic lab skills, histological, surgical, and behavioral techniques.
  • Maintains the guidelines for compliance of overall laboratory safety, as per the EHS, DEA, IACUC policies and regulations.
  • Monitor supply inventory levels and manage laboratory supplies.
  • Responsible for ordering laboratory supplies, reagents, etc. and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

***This is a regular, full-time position which involves on-campus and online duties, with job continuation dependent upon grant funding.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in biology, Chemistry or other natural science area and one year laboratory experience; or a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Experience in small animal surgery, brain histology, behavior testing.
