Job Summary:

The Lowboy Driver is responsible for the maintenance and operation of heavy machinery.



Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    Responsible for loading heavy equipment onto lowboy for transportation, including proper cargo securement.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to supervisors.
  • Transport and drive equipment to and from regionally located job sites in a safe timely manner.
  • Survey job site and unload cargo in the area per policies, procedures and in conjunction with Foreman directives.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and immediately report any concerns or problems.
  • Inspect truck supplies such as tires, brakes, fuel, oil, and water.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records such as daily log, fuel tickets, delivery documentation, and other logs and documents in compliance with government regulations and Superior policies.
  • Promptly report any delays, traffic, weather or emergency conditions, irregularities in pickup or delivery of cargo, safety hazards on route, or accidents involving driver or company equipment.
  • Operate trucks and equipment according to all laws, VDOT regulations and observe all safety regulations established by Superior and the Department of Motor Vehicles for the safe operation of a commercial vehicle.
  • Maintain a valid CDL A with the required endorsements and medical card. Schedule and attend required DOT physicals to maintain driving privileges.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment to a high standard of cleanliness.


Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes):

  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance
  • Knowledge of safety requirements in construction sites.
  • Proficient in using GPS devices, maps, and other navigation
  • Ability to work effectively with supervisors, co-workers and subcontractors.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
