Qualifications Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent of two years of work in the food service industry. Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional coursework at an accredited college or university in dietetics, food service systems administration, or other acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis. Necessary Special Qualifications:
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.
- Willing to obtain the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) Server Permit within 61 days of hire date.
- Willing to obtain Manager level food safety certification with in 90 days of hire.
Overview An employee in this class supervises a team of servers, hosts, and bartenders to create a welcoming atmosphere and uphold the restaurant's mission and values. The TSP Assistant Restaurant Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant's front-of-house (FOH) team. This classification involves assisting the TSP Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations, enhancing guest experiences, and maintaining high standards of service quality. This class differs from that of TSP Restaurant Manager in that an incumbent of the latter acts as the manager for all operations at a site serving a high volume of guests per day. Responsibilities
- Assists with managing all Front of House Operations as assigned.
- Coaches other staff to develop their personal skills and capabilities in Food and Beverage Operations. Takes corrective action if food service, sanitation, and safety guidelines and goals are not being met. Participates in staff hiring process as required.
- Utilizes a computer to assist with order taking, reporting, record keeping, and planning for Food & Beverage Operations.
- Assists with inventories and ordering of food, beverages, equipment, and supplies.
- Assists with all banquet operations including menu planning, costing, execution, and employee supervision for banquet functions including holiday buffets, Sunday brunch and other special occasions.
- Communicates effectively with others to resolve conflicts quickly and effectively. Interacts in a positive manner with other staff members and fellow employees to foster and maintain a harmonious working environment to encourage teamwork in Food and Beverage Operations.
- Checks food and product inventory levels against use and production reports to detect and prevent loss and waste. Checks staffs work schedules and hours relative to work requirements to meet production and service needs and while controlling overtime costs. Takes corrective actions as necessary to help assure financial goals are attained.
- Monitors staff in the food preparation areas and/or restaurant to ensure that they meet food sanitation standards. Ensures that food quality, presentation, and consistency meet required guidelines to deliver the highest quality of customer service. Ensures cooperation between Front of House and Back of House to meet work assignments and customer demands.
- Conducts / participates in pre-service training / briefings (line-up meetings) to communicate service requirements, menu changes, and goals for the day.
- Assumes Restaurant Manager duties in their absence. Will be opening and/or closing Manager on duty regularly and performs other tasks assigned.
