Job Purpose

This job position is posted for any MA or NY location. Join a team that is responsible for supporting and driving growth in nationally recognized energy efficiency and decarbonization programs, and other emerging areas of focus. National Grid's Customer Solutions Operations Support team is looking for a leader who will contribute their technical and management skills to help design and oversee National Grid's Central Engineering Support(CES) team. The manager will be asked to use their knowledge of team leadership, project management and technical knowledge to oversee the technical side of our program offerings, working closely with other parts of the team to evaluate our program's technical performances, ensuring we quantify accurate program results for our customers. CES is a highly motivated and active team that works closely with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to aid customers in making their homes and businesses more efficient and reducing their impact on climate change.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead, motivate and develop a professional team, prioritize work, and allocate resources to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and business objectives.
  • Manage relevant technology process activities to achieve high productivity, low costs, efficient work practices and to ensure compliance with National Grid policies and procedures.
  • Work with relevant business units to translate objectives that support sales on relevant technology solutions into well-defined requirements with clearly defined business cases to support change and innovation within National Grid. Monitor and control allocated human and material resources, maintaining financial and progress forecasting to ensure relevant technology programs are delivered according to schedule and within budget.
  • Challenge existing processes, policies and procedures and continuously seek ways to do things better to drive greater efficiencies for the business and deliver the highest quality of customer service in a cost-effective manner. Translate business objectives into clearly defined business cases, costs, or schedules to support achievement of departmental/operational area.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate environmental and safety requirements and goals, and individual and group customer satisfaction goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and nurture effective relationships with our technical sales & support team, account prospecting, sales, energy efficiency analysts, energy product and program management teams and external vendors to facilitate communications, integrate work and ensure the successful delivery of energy efficiency measures for customers.
  • Oversee and coordinate internal and external resources assigned to perform technical assistance studies, commissioning analysis and reports to ensure timely availability information and data necessary to develop effective energy efficiency programs and services as well as all renewable type resources.
  • Lead the team to provide technical support on energy efficiency and decarbonization matters to the company's program managers, technical support team, sales and the energy product teams to facilitate communications, integrate work and ensure the successful delivery of energy efficiency measures for National Grid's customers.
  • Engage with our Evaluation, Measurement & Verification team to create and implement improvement plans using data found in evaluation studies. Effectively communicate evaluation plans, findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate energy savings calculations are imbedded and regularly reviewed in our systems with our suite of products/programs, including analyzing program data and working with information services teams to maintain and enhance systems.
  • Develop, recommend, and assist in management of process improvements for residential, multifamily, and commercial programs with a goal of improving engineering rigor, documentation, scale, and customer experience. Contribute to planning for future product and program offerings by collaborating with product managers, sales teams, marketing teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide research-driven insights and analysis to improve targeting and design of customer offerings.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and four or more years of management experience is required. Alternatively, a master's degree and three years of relevant professional experience satisfies this requirement.
  • Certified Energy Manager or CPM certification is preferred.
  • Understanding of electrification of buildings is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, an analytical approach, ability to perform presentations, and attention to detail are important for success.

$144,000 - $171,000 a year - Upstate, NY
$162,000 - $192,000 a year - Massachusetts
Salary commensurate with location and experience
