Overview

We are seeking a Medical Surgical PCA II also referred to Patient Care Assistant or Med-Surg PCA II. A Med Surg PCA II will assist with patient care by supporting daily activities, mobility, feeding, and vital signs while monitoring for any changes. Additionally, the Med Surg PCA II, will help nurses by maintaining supplies, assisting with wound care, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and toileting
  • Help with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring patients to prevent skin breakdown, you may also feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake/output
  • Take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration), observe and report changes in a patient's condition to nurses, you may also help with wound care under the direction of an RN
  • Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms, ensure the environment stays clean and safe
  • Assist in transporting patients within the hospital


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preffered
  • Current Certification in Patient Care required (M.A. / CNA / EMT / Paramedic / Patient Care Tech, etc.)
  • Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician preferred.
  • Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
  • Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
  • Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office preferred.
