Duties/Responsibilities


Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform genetic analysis on crosses to identify genes and markers associated with important traits, such as dwarfism in Azalea, using molecular techniques like DNA sequencing.

  • Oversee plant growth in field trials and greenhouse settings, monitor plant development, and collect data on traits of interest.

  • Analyze genome sequences of different ornamental species to understand genome structure, function, and evolution.
  • Use statistical software and programming languages to analyze phenotypic and genomic data, identifying patterns and correlations between traits and genetic markers.

  • Assist faculty member with writing reports on research progress, writing grant proposals to secure funding for research projects.

  • Measure and characterize plant traits, including flower size, color, leaf shape , and disease resistance for breeding purposes.
  • Develop and maintain databases for storing and managing genomics and phenotypic data.
