The Chen Lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard develops and applies nextgeneration technologies to sequence the genome, epigenome, and transcriptome in situ at singlecell resolution. We are seeking an exceptionally creative, selfdirected research associate to (1) scale spatial genomic pipelines and (2) manage and collect data across spatial genomics projects. You will design and execute your own experiments, engineer new solutions to technical hurdles, and help shape the lab's infrastructure and culture. Key Responsibilities
- Execute cuttingedge spatial genomics assays: Perform and troubleshoot Slidetags, Slideseq, and related in situ imaging or sequencing workflows.
- Drive experimental design and data generation: Collaborate with lab members to plan, optimize, and run experiments that advance shared project goals.
- Interpret data and the literature: Critically evaluate primary papers and your own results to propose rigorous followup studies or protocol refinements.
- Communicate findings clearly: Maintain detailed digital lab notebooks; distill results into concise slide decks or written reports for individual checkins and fulllab meetings.
- Coordinate priorities and timelines: Partner with the PI and senior scientists to align experimental milestones with overall project strategy, adjusting plans as needed.
- Keep projects on track: Develop and update an organizational roadmap (tasks, reagents, data, and deadlines) to ensure timely, highquality completion of all objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education - B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
- Laboratory experience - 2 years of fulltime research experience with handson proficiency in at least one of the following: single-cell transcriptomic workflows; fluorescence or confocal microscopy and basic image analysis; NGS library preparation and molecularbiology techniques.
- Data skills - Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, R or sequencingdata analysis, or a demonstrated willingness to learn.
- Problemsolving ability - Proven track record of independently troubleshooting experiments and proposing creative technical solutions.
- Project management & communication - Excellent organizational, written, and verbal skills; ability to juggle multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fastpaced, teamoriented environment.
