Your Role:

As a key leader within our pullet operations team, the Pullet Production Manager is directly responsible for the health, performance, and success of pullet flocks under their care. This role ensures strategic production targets are met through proactive flock management, strong grower relationships, and close coordination with internal and external partners. You'll drive operational excellence, support team development, and uphold the highest standards in animal welfare, compliance, and safety.

What You'll Do:

Team Leadership & Development



  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to crew members.
  • Lead the onboarding and training of new team members and pullet growers to ensure consistent, high-quality flock management.
  • Provide field support and serve as a flexible resource, stepping in as needed to support team operations and ensure continuity across pullet production activities.


Flock & Farm Management



  • Serve as the subject matter expert on pullet standards, ensuring consistent application across all farms.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as feed consumption, flock uniformity, and growth metrics-identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain farm visit schedules to support grower relationships and monitor biosecurity, welfare, and equipment standards.
  • Ensure proactive management of health and welfare in partnership with veterinary and nutrition teams.


Compliance & Operational Excellence



  • Oversee strict adherence to biosecurity, animal welfare, and regulatory requirements by both internal teams and external growers.
  • Ensure all documentation and protocols are accurately maintained.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety across pullet operations.
  • Align with pullet leadership on operational updates, scheduling changes, and farm compliance needs.


Partnerships & Communication



  • Build and maintain strong relationships with pullet growers to ensure consistent performance and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and report on vendor performance related to feed, equipment, and service quality.
  • Share flock performance insights and data with grower support teams and leadership to maintain alignment and transparency.
  • Represent Vital Farms at relevant industry events and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Farm Compliance and Quality.


What You Bring to the Table:



  • Bachelor's degree in animal science, Business or Agriculture Management or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 3-4 years of experience working in animal production required
  • 2+ years people management experience required
  • Ability to travel up to 4 days a week across your territory and to business sites for trainings and meetings, must be willing to work some nights and weekends
  • Ability to travel 10% for company onboarding, company events, team meetings and other business needs
  • Candidate must be located within a commutable distance to Springfield, MO.
  • Basic computer skills andproficiency using all Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Personal commitment to ensuring all milestonesare met on time
  • Ability to manage multiple, time sensitive, priorities and deadlines at one time
  • Creative problem-solving ability.
  • Ability tofrequently travel across your territory and to business sites as needed for training and meetings

At Vital Farms, compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to, skill level,experience, education, training, market demands, and business needs.A reasonable estimate of the current starting annual base salary for this position is $80,000 - $95,000. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum end of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential continued future salary growth.
