The Epidemiology Disease Investigator is responsible for investigating and monitoring known or potential sources of suspected infectious diseases, determining original source, ensuring infection control, and assisting in the reduction of transmission. We Require
Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Medical Technology, Health Sciences, or a health-related field An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for therequired experience on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions
Performs HAI investigations to determine disease origin method of contraction through contact with physicians, hospitals, and healthcare providers per HAI protocols and processes Interviews clients and gathers medical record information to obtain epidemiological information and determine contacts; may include conducting home or facility visits Provides health education and guidance to reduce the spread of infection, including facility-level infection control and prevention Serves as a liaison with internal and external partners to complete case investigation and contact follow-up activities Maintains case documentation Assists with HAI surveillance activities Tracks and locates clients or contacts throughout Maricopa County who suffer from or were exposed to a communicable disease Coordinates collection of specimens and submits samples for laboratory testing Assists with investigation of other reportable conditions as needed
Working Conditions
Most work is performed in an office environment with hybrid schedule options Valid Arizona driver's license is required upon hire Position may require travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of a private or county vehicle on County business Ability to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency and ability to work on-call periodically Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test Selection Procedure
