Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.58 to $29.28/hour. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $28.58 to $34.34/hour.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:
Responsibilities include independently writing, designing and editing of media guides, brochure information, and press releases for 20 intercollegiate sports; write, edit and produce content for UCSB athletics department website; writing sporting event recaps; producing written material for department annual review; maintaining statistical information for various teams; serving as liaison with the media for various teams; managing various game operations at athletic events.
Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively communicate through oral, written, and electronic forms.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Through knowledge of NCAA Constitution and Bylaws
- Understanding of the role of intercollegiate athletics within the overall academic mission of the University.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution
- 1-3 years experience working in a public/media relations capacity
- 1-3 years experience working with and creating digital content

- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on sporting event schedules.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
- 50% Website Content/Maintenance and Media Relations - Writer is solely responsible for writing of assignments listed. These responsibilities require working under constant deadline pressure. Write weekly releases, game notes and programs for men's and women's intercollegiate athletics teams and events. Write event recaps following sporting events. Distribute to media via email and post on the department's website. Write, produce and edit content for UCSB's Official Athletics Website, www.UCSBGauchos.com. Pitch feature story ideas regarding UCSB Athletics to local, regional, and national media. Oversee all publicity functions for several intercollegiate sports. Create, edit, and post relevant content on Department social media sites: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and others as needed.
- 10% Statistics - Coordinate statistical reporting to the Big West Conference, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and the National Collegiate Athletics Association. Maintain annual and historical records of all 20 intercollegiate sport teams.
- 30% Game Management - Assist with event management at intercollegiate athletics events. This includes the production of scoreboard operations, public address and statistics recording. Assist with Athletics Communications Student Intern program.
- 10% Other - Be knowledgeable of, and comply with, NCAA, Big West Conference and University rules, policies and regulations applicable to the performance of this position. Other duties as assigned by Associate A.D. - Communications.
