Main Function

The Database Administrator will be responsible for assisting in the management, maintenance, and optimization of databases to ensure the smooth operation of organizational systems. Working closely with IHA Application and Infrastructure teams, this role will contribute to the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of database solutions to meet business requirements and stakeholder satisfaction. Provide back up support to Senior Director, Application Development and Architecture as necessary.

Outline of Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and upgrading of database systems and software.
  • Implement and maintain database security protocols, including user access control, data encryption, and backups.
  • Monitor database performance and identify opportunities for optimization, including query tuning and indexing strategies.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner, collaborating with IT teams and vendors as needed.
  • Ensure the integrity, availability, and reliability of database systems through regular audits, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Ensure databases comply with relevant regulations, such as HIPAA, or industry-specific standards.
  • Provide training and support to end-users and colleagues on database-related tools and processes.
  • Assist in database-related projects, including migrations, upgrades, and integration with other systems.
  • Stay updated on emerging database technologies, trends, and best practices to contribute to the evolution of database solutions within the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Four years of experience may be considered in lieu of education. Three years of experience preferred. Strong understanding of database concepts, including relational database management systems (RDBMS) and SQL, including all facets of Microsoft SQL Server and related tools required. Knowledge of designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining high performance database environments and schemas including ETL/ELT solutions required. Proficiency in cloud computing platforms, specifically AWS (Amazon Web Services) and familiarity with API frameworks, specifically REST required. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex, technical and architected solutions to non-technical stakeholders. Proven abilities to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Pay Range: $84,555 to $126,833 annually, actual compensation is dependent on job-related factors such as experience, education, skills and qualifications for the role.
