Job Title: CMM Operator/Technician Summary: Responsible for ensuring the dimensional accuracy and quality of manufactured products by utilizing fixed and portable Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect parts and gauges per engineering specifications and customer requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Set up and operate fixed and portable CMM equipment and related computer systems.
- Read and interpret product and gauge drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), with intermediate proficiency.
- Develop and implement measurement plans for parts of varying complexity using CMM software, including program creation and dimension calculations.
- Create and execute calibration plans for a select range of gauges, ensuring compliance with gauge specifications and accurate measurement of parts.
- Conduct, store, and retrieve dimensional inspections of parts and gauges using fixed and portable CMM systems.
- Analyze inspection data to determine compliance with customer specifications and initiate corrective actions when deviations are identified.
- Train and mentor CMM operators and programmers in the use of equipment and best practices.
- Maintain a strong awareness of customer requirements to ensure consistent product quality and compliance.
- Clearly communicate inspection results to operators, quality engineers, process engineers, and customer representatives.

Qualifications: Education and Experience:
- Certificate from a technical school or college (minimum one year), or
- 3-6 months of related experience/training, or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Mathematical Skills:
- Proficient in applied geometry, trigonometry, and statistical methods.
- Able to perform dimensional calculations using fractions, ratios, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability:
- Capable of analyzing data, identifying trends, and solving complex problems.
Computer Skills:
- Familiarity with SAP or similar database systems.
- Proficiency in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, etc.).
- CAD experience is a plus.
Other Skills:
- Ability to program and operate measuring equipment.
- Understanding of operator instructions, dimensional tolerances, and part drawings.
- Use of lockout/tagout procedures.
- Basic file management and documentation.
- Use of calculators and measurement tools.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand and use hands to handle tools and parts.
- Frequently walks, reaches, talks, and hears.
- Occasionally stoops, kneels, or crawls.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Moderate noise level typical of a manufacturing floor.
- Safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes are required in production areas.
- Welding PPE required when exposed to welding operations.
- Environmental exposure may include propane from forklifts and light paper waste from office supplies.
EHS Requirements:
- Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety protocols while on the production floor.
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace.
