This position is funded for 12 months; continuation past 12 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Student Services Assistant in the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) facilitates the daily operations of a student focused office, center, or program including financial, communication, record, and scheduling activities; coordinates the planning, logistics, and delivery of events and programs; interacts with students, families, and visitors to provide information regarding available services; manages and maintains student information; and provides leadership and direction for student staff.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
  • Support the daily operations of the College of Information Sciences and Technology's Chaiken Student Success Center, primarily serving the Office of Enrollment Engagement and Belonging (Career Solutions, Inclusion and Diversity Engagement, Student Engagement and Undergraduate Recruiting); provide information and direction to students, families, and visitors regarding services; schedule appointments; and manage student data and information

  • Facilitate, develop, coordinate, and assist with the planning of events and programs including student success retention programs, award ceremonies, professional development workshops, career fairs, and orientation programs; organize event logistics including presenters, itineraries, and communication plans; serve as point of contact with vendors and event partners in collaboration with IST's Events Team; coordinate with leadership to establish and assess event goals; assist with developing strategies to ensure event success

  • Manage student emergency funds and awarding processes.

  • Update and maintain student records including accommodations, participation records, scholarship information, and student data; receive, process, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and materials

  • Manage scheduling activities of a student program or office using the appropriate appointment, registration, or reservation system

  • Create, compile, and deliver communications for student audiences in the form of newsletters, web content, letters, and information sessions

  • Monitor and manage budgets for a student services office; maintain financial records; process and approve transactions, prepare purchase orders; process donations; and create invoices

  • Supervise, train, and provide direction to student staff; delegate tasks; and ensure efficient workflows

  • Assist in evaluating the success and effectiveness of services; recommend solutions to improve programming

  • Participate in and serve on committees related to student services

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check, and the National Sex Offender Registry Clearance (NSOR).Additional clearances may be necessary if you resided outside of Pennsylvania in the past five years. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $38,300.00 - $55,500.00.
