The Student Health and Well-being (SHW) cluster of the UC San Diego, which reports through UC San Diego Health System, plays a leadership role in creating a strong and active wellness culture that enables all students to flourish in body, mind and spirit. This includes promotion and the expansion/development of a student health and well-being center, and the transformation of existing departments, under the oversight of the executive director, into a cohesive, trans-disciplinary source of integrated wellness services for over 45,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students. The SHW cluster includes the six departments: Student Health Services (SHS), Health Promotion Services (HPS), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), SHW Administrative and Business Operations (ADM), Student Health Analytics and Assessment (SHAA) and Strategic Planning, Innovation, and Research (SPIR).

SHW Strategic Planning, Innovation and Research (SPIR) is responsible for identifying and prioritizing strategic initiatives, setting and monitoring appropriate goals, and developing and integrating new strategies through cross-functionality within SHW and in collaboration with external stakeholders and campus partners. SPIR also ensures that strategies are both forward-thinking and deeply aligned with the overall University, UC San Diego Health, and Student Health and Well-Being objectives; thus, setting the stage for sustainable success and growth to meet the unique needs of our vibrant and diverse student population, and create a welcoming environment for our dedicated workforce. In addition, SPIR facilitates collaborative research that delivers compassionate, innovative, and transformational care that contributes to the academic success and personal development of all students.

The Senior Project Coordinator (SPC) plays a crucial role in driving positive change and fostering an environment that cultivates a campus community that fosters life-long, holistic health and well-being through collaboration, and where everyone can thrive and flourish in a supportive environment.

The key projects include strategic initiatives for Student Health and Well-Being related to strategic planning, administrative services and operations, technology and systems, process improvement, marketing and communications, inclusive excellence, and research.

The SPC uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes, and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation.

Projects include strategic initiatives related to strategic planning, administrative services and operations, technology, process improvement, marketing and communications, inclusive excellence, and research.

• Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

• Strong policy analysis techniques. Demonstrated ability coordinating large-scale, data-centric projects in complex settings, such as higher education. Ability to understand complex organizational structures and systems, and the polices at UC San Diego and beyond that impact business at the university.

• Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses. Experience translating analytical findings into actionable recommendations. Ability to collect, organize, and analyze large amounts of information, of varying types, and develop clear recommendations.

• Experience with policy and/or project coordination related to supporting underrepresented groups (e.g., racial/ethnic minorities, low-income individuals, first-generation college students, women, etc.)

• Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Experience managing large-scale projects that include many dynamic components and responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to adhere to rigorous project timelines, within budget, and aligned with constituent needs and organizational priorities.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with and persuade diverse audiences, including high-level university administrators. Experience working in dynamic contexts where opposing viewpoints need to be considered. Knowledge of how to bring parties with different perspectives to a common solution. Ability to manage change across the organization. Ability to navigate communications with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.

• Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs. Ability to use a range of sophisticated computer applications for project management, data storage, and website building. Demonstrated experience and competency with Microsoft Office suite, Teams, email, and a variety of web-based programs and browsers, with the willingness and ability to update and increase skills as needed.

• Analytical / problem-solving skills. Ability to approach problem solving objectively and with rigorous methodology to ensure accuracy and reduce the chance of error.

• Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion, especially in regards to the sharing of sensitive data and information, in compliance with University, state and federal guidelines, including, but not limited to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

• Ability to at all times adhere to UCSD Health Medical Center (C.A.R.I.N.G.) Standards of Performance, and demonstrate the characteristics of professionalism in attire, attitude, conversation, behavior and attentiveness to others. • Ability to design, implement, and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of programs and services, provide insight to inform decision-making, improve constituent experience and ensure alignment with strategic plan and goals.

• Demonstrated experience with student development principles, advising and supporting students on academic, personal and career matters, and/or ability to design and implement collaborative programs that foster a positive campus environment to address diverse student needs and promote overall well-being and success on campus and beyond.

• Demonstrated experience with identifying inefficiencies within existing business processes, analyzing data to understand root causes, designing and implementing improvements, and monitoring results to ensure positive impact on efficiency and quality.

• Demonstrated ability to actively foster a positive, welcoming climate, and value, include and support all in the UC San Diego community.

• As appropriate, submit incident reports into the UCSD SHW Incident Report System, RL Datix or current system in use, to report near-misses, process problems or patient or employee injury events. Attend required trainings and refreshers for use and proper steps to follow.

• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

• Occasionally required to work overtime, weekend or evening hours.

• Occasional business travel.
