This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, hard-working and accomplished team of aerospace technicians, you will be responsible for a team of instrumentation and controls technicians that support facility operation, maintenance and engine integration for Blue Origin Engines. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight. This role will be based at Marshall Space Flight Center.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Assign daily tasks and provide mentorship to a team of technicians.
  • Establish and maintain tool control and inventory systems.
  • Ensure team training and qualifications are current.
  • Conduct regular quality audits of team output.
  • Support facility construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Fabricate and terminate cables and wiring harnesses for low voltage data and controls.
  • Install and analyze data acquisition and control systems.
  • Integrate test articles and perform system test checkouts.
  • Review and edit test procedures; operate engine test facilities.
  • Troubleshoot data and instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers on design improvements.
  • Plan and communicate assembly steps for complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Safely work with hazardous chemicals, cryogenics, and high-pressure systems.
  • Maintain 5S and FOD control disciplines through daily inspections.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • Prior experience leading or supervising a team of technicians.
  • 10+ years' experience in manufacturing, processing, testing, or related fields.
  • Experience working in AS9100 or ISO9000 environments.
  • Proficiency with test, flight, and safety critical hardware.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, and technical instructions.
  • Hands-on experience with thermocouples, pressure transducers, valves, electronic regulators, strain/vibration instrumentation, video/data acquisition systems, and valve controls.
  • IPC J-STD-001/WHMA 620C/S qualification.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs., work in adverse weather, and climb stairs/ladders.
  • 2-year vocational degree in electrical or electronic curriculum, military training, or 10+ years relevant field experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work at heights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years' experience in propulsion facility/systems or launch vehicle processing (launch and recovery ops, rocket/capsule system maintenance, integration, and testing).
  • Working familiarity with rocket propellants and cryogenic systems, including LH2, LOX, LN2, and LNG.
  • Proficiency with resource-loaded schedules, WAGO products, National Instruments, and Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Deep understanding of grounding techniques and their impact on signal integrity.
  • Ability to develop and recommend effective maintenance, integration, and testing procedures.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities.
