Job Summary

The Business Systems Analyst within the IT Functional Team provides high-level operational support and assists with software change management efforts primarily for UKG Pro Workforce Management (covering timekeeping, scheduling, and workforce management), while also overseeing end-to-end process flows that integrate with other HCM solutions (such as Oracle ERP). This role requires a deep understanding of workforce management processes, including but not limited to timekeeping, scheduling, labor allocation, and pay-rule configuration. Additionally, it collaboratively manages system integrations with payroll and other relevant applications.

Acting as the primary liaison between business stakeholders (HR, Payroll, Operations) and technical teams, the BSA assists in resolving production issues ranging from routine to complex, analyzes new business requirements, creates specifications to address these requirements, formalizes business process workflows, facilitates process improvement initiatives, conducts system testing (including cross-functional integration testing and end-user acceptance testing), and provides strategic insights on HCM and workforce management trends.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $119,000 - $178,600 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Business Informatics and Analysis department delivers essential technical support for enterprise applications and systems. Our core responsibilities include acting as a critical liaison between business and technology stakeholders, advancing a cloud-focused strategy for business systems transformation, ensuring robust IT quality assurance, and providing insightful business analysis to enable informed decision-making and enhance organizational performance.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis methodologies (e.g., eliciting requirements, gap analysis, root cause analysis)..
  • Expertise in translating business needs into clear functional specifications and system configurations.
  • Advanced skills in process design, software configuration, and system modification from requirements gathering to deployment.
  • Demonstrated skills needed to develop process and system implementation plans.
  • Experience with project and development frameworks such as traditional Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum.
  • Proficiency in process and systems documentation (e.g., Business Process Mapping, Use Cases, User Stories, UML)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

Preferred Qualifications


  • 5 years UKG Pro Workforce Management / Dimensions experience
  • 10 years related experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
  • Oracle HCM Cloud Certification
  • Advanced knowledge of UKG Pro Workforce Management modules for timekeeping, scheduling, labor allocation, pay rule configuration, and attendance management.
  • Strong understanding of how UKG Pro Workforce Management integrates with other HCM solutions, such as Oracle ERP, payroll, and HR systems.
  • Knowledge relating to the design of processes and software across the organization.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills, including functional, integration, and user acceptance testing.
