Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist.

The Research Scientist will work in the Beck Laboratory at NYU Grossman School of Medicine to investigate the genetic and inflammatory mechanisms driving myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and VEXAS syndrome. The research focuses on understanding how mutations in UBA1, DNMT3A, and TET2 contribute to bone marrow disease using genetically engineered mouse models and molecular biology approaches. This role provides an opportunity to lead high-impact translational research and contribute to publications and grant development under the mentorship of a Principal Investigator.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and analyze in vivo experiments using murine models of MDS and VEXAS.
  • Perform molecular and cellular assays, including flow cytometry, PCR, and single-cell RNA sequencing.
  • Analyze hematopoietic and immune phenotypes using advanced data analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with team members on experimental design, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation.
  • Present findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences.
  • Participate in the preparation of scientific publications and grant proposals.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate lab records.
  • Train and mentor junior lab members.
  • Stay current with relevant scientific literature and contribute to lab discussions and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MS degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Background in hematopoiesis, cancer biology, or inflammation. Familiarity with single-cell technologies or computational analysis tools are a plus.
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, or a related field. Experience working with murine models is required. Candidate must demonstrate a strong interest in translational hematologic research and be capable of working both independently and collaboratively. Strong communication, data interpretation, and organizational skills are essential.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70,000.00-$85,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
