Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Corporate Engagement- TOV.

NYU Langone Health (NYULH) is seeking a Director of Corporate Engagement to lead the growth of our industry-sponsored research and strategic partnerships. Housed within Technology Opportunities & Ventures (TOV), the commercialization and innovation hub of NYU, this role is critical to advancing NYULHs research and innovation agenda through long-term corporate collaborations.
Reporting to the Vice President, the Director will work closely with internal stakeholders including research administration, academic department chairs, faculty and Development to design and execute cross-functional partnership strategies at the enterprise level as well as the academic department level. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong business development acumen, exceptional execution skills, and the ability to influence at all levels of the institution. The Director will develop and execute a five-year strategy focused on measurable revenue growth, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and institutional alignment. While the role begins as an individual contributor, it will evolve into a leadership position with a growing team and expanded resources.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Business Development

  • Develop and lead a multi-year strategic plan to grow NYULHs industry-sponsored research portfolio and partnership revenue to 10% of the overall research base within 3-5 years.
  • Align corporate engagement initiatives with NYU Langones overall research priorities and innovation goals.
  • Serve as an institutional leader in shaping policy and culture around industry collaboration
  • Identify and proactively cultivate corporate partners across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, digital health, and emerging technology sectors.
  • Lead outreach efforts, develop compelling partnership proposals, and negotiate research agreements in collaboration with legal, compliance, and contracts teams.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of corporate leads, converting prospects into funded research collaborations and multi-year strategic alliances using Salesforce to qualify, track, and manage information .

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing and prospective industry partners.
  • Steward ongoing collaborations to ensure value realization, partner satisfaction, and long-term engagement.
  • Provide faculty and department leadership with guidance and support to foster productive academic-industry relationships.
  • Work across NYULH and NYU campuses to ensure corporate partners experience a seamless, one-university approach to engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Science & Research, Sponsored Research Operations, and Development to integrate industry support into broader research and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Manage all aspects of the corporate engagement function in the early stages, from strategy to deal execution.
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including: annual growth in industry-sponsored research revenue; number and value of new partnership agreements, conversion rate of corporate leads to funded collaborations, volume of repeat and expanded partnerships, stakeholder satisfaction and faculty engagement levels, progress toward five-year strategic growth targets, institutional impact through publications, patents, and translational outcomes linked to corporate collaborations
  • Promote NYULHs strengths as a research institution and build its reputation as a premier destination for industry collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree required.
At least 10 years of progressive experience in corporate engagement, business development, research administration, or tech transfer, ideally with direct experience in university-industry collaborations.
Skills & Competencies: Strong strategic thinking, with proven ability to translate vision into execution; Demonstrated success in securing complex; high-value corporate partnerships; Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; Familiarity with research operations, IP and compliance in academic-industry partnerships; Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and resilient mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or MBA) preferred in life sciences, healthcare, business, or engineering.
A strong network of industry contacts across relevant sectors.
Prior experience in an academic medical center or large university.
Experience building or scaling a new program or function.
Familiarity with corporate philanthropy or integration of research and fundraising.
Engagement in professional networks such as NACRO or UIDP.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $146,384.39 - $243,974.35 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
