Litigation Counsel - JLL

What this job involves: Join JLL's Global Litigation & Disputes team as a Litigation Counsel, where you'll serve as a trusted legal advisor managing complex commercial litigation matters across our diverse real estate portfolio. Reporting to the Global Head of Litigation, you'll play a critical role in protecting JLL's interests while providing strategic counsel to business leaders across all service lines. This position offers exceptional exposure to cutting-edge real estate disputes, from contract negotiations to multi-jurisdictional litigation, while contributing directly to JLL's risk management and business success. You'll collaborate with senior executives, external counsel, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative legal solutions that drive business objectives forward.

What your day-to-day will look like:

* Manage and strategically direct commercial litigation cases from initiation through resolution, including supervising outside counsel and controlling budgets

* Draft, review, and negotiate critical legal documents including demand letters, pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements

* Coordinate complex discovery processes, manage document collection, defend depositions, and prepare witnesses for trial testimony

* Lead mediation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations while evaluating risks and proposing business-favorable resolutions

* Interface directly with senior business clients to provide strategic counsel on disputes and commercial legal issues

* Navigate multi-jurisdictional litigation requirements and manage subpoena disputes across various court systems

* Develop and deliver training programs to internal stakeholders on litigation best practices and lessons learned

Required Qualifications:

* Minimum 5 years of commercial litigation experience in law firm and/or in-house legal environments

* Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school with active state bar admission in relevant jurisdiction

* Proven expertise in federal and state court litigation, including comprehensive discovery management experience

* Strong analytical and advisory capabilities with ability to counsel clients on complex legal matters

* Exceptional written and oral communication skills for effective interaction with clients, senior management, and opposing counsel

* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously across different jurisdictions

* Champion of ethics and integrity with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in real estate, construction, or commercial property litigation matters

* In-house legal experience with understanding of business operations and commercial objectives

* Labor and employment litigation background or willingness to support employment matters

* Technology proficiency and adaptability to new legal information systems

* Mediation or arbitration experience with alternative dispute resolution methods

* Project management skills with experience in budget oversight and timeline management

* Continuous improvement mindset with track record of driving process efficiencies

Location: Onsite - Chicago, IL

Salary/Comp: $150,000 - $160,000 USD per year

Estimated compensation for this position:

150,000.00 - 160,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
