**This is a Temporary Position with a start date of 07/09/2025 lasting up to 8 weeks**

The Salvation Army Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Mental Health Respite Mission Statement: The Mental Health Respite Program will provide structure and supportive services to participants to aid them in successfully transitioning to the community environment at the lease restrictive level of care.

Summary/Primary Purpose: Provide psychiatric nursing services. Demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse population. Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling when appropriate.

Willing to utilize trauma informed practices. Mental Health Respite provides a safe, protected, supervised residential environment on a short-term basis. The intent of the service is to support individuals by providing linkages to needed behavioral health services and assist in transition back into the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Complete medical assessment on incoming residents.
  • Review medication orders and needs and collaborate with providers in the community.
  • Set up medication documents and Mediset's for new residents.
  • Review each resident's medications weekly and refill Mediset's
  • Overseeing training and competency of medication aides.
  • Provide Direction and Monitoring for Med Aides and overseeing the provision of medications.
  • Provide on-call support for program participants medical and medication needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of both currently existing and newly developed policies and procedures.
  • Review files to assure documentation of MORS is thorough and complete.
  • Communicate issues regarding MORS to the program director.
  • Follow program policies and procedures and emergency procedures.
  • Will continue to utilize and refine trauma informed skills through training and practice.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Complete 12 hours of intensive on-going training per year based on program/participant population need such as Emergency Protective Custody training (EPC), Board of Mental Health (BOMH), Trauma Informed Care, Behavioral Health Diagnosis, symptomology and interventions annually.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Nursing required. Two years related experience with behavioral health services preferred.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.



  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.


Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Registered Nurse with a valid Nebraska State License. Attain CPR/First Aid Certification within 6 months of employment. Keep certification and update when required.

Complete Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) initial training within 6 months and refresher course annually.

Working Conditions: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but will range from quiet to loud.
