Description MaineHealth Institute for ResearchProfessional - Nonclinical Summary: The Hernandez Lab of the MaineHealth Institute for Research (MHIR) is looking for a Research Assistant I to join our team! The research program in the Hernandez Lab utilizes mouse models to understand how developmental alterations in thyroid hormones cause in later life endocrine and neurological abnormalities of relevance to human disorders such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, infertility, anxiety, autism or depression. Our Research Assistant I will conduct a variety of laboratory procedures under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, Arturo Hernandez, PhD, or the PI's designee. They may assist the PI or other lab personnel and will master routine operations, techniques and procedures used in biomedical research with mouse models. They will set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, monitor experiments, make observations, and calculate and record results. This team member must be able to recognize problems or deviations in experimental conditions and notify appropriate personnel. The availability of this position is directly related to grant funding. This position is based on-site at our Scarborough, ME research lab. The MaineHealth application, a cover letter, and a resume or CV are all required elements for application to this position.
