About the Laboratory

The Leukodystrophy Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Research Postdoctoral Fellow to support a diverse clinical research portfolio for children and adolescents diagnosed with rare genetic white matter diseases known as leukodystrophies. This work is being led by the Leukodystrophy Center's clinical research investigators, including Drs. Adeline Vanderver, MD, Amy Waldman, MD, MSCE, Laura Adang, MD, PhD, and Mariko Bennett, MD, PhD, with support from a large team of research coordinators, scientists, data analysts and biostatisticians, regulatory experts, etc.

The Clinical Research Postdoctoral Fellow will have an opportunity to manage key elements of one or more funded awards focused on the expansion of a multi-center data collection framework to support the development of extensive natural history data sets, development of novel clinical endpoints and surrogate biomarkers, etc. in order to prepare the leukodystrophy community for anticipated changes in the therapeutic landscape.

This is a high-volume, fast-pacedclinical research environment, and a successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to multi-task proficiently; prior experience working or volunteering in a clinical research environment is strongly preferred. Outstanding written and oral communication skills are essential, as the position will involve regular contact with physicians and clinical staff in the Division of Neurology, as well as with external collaborators and sponsors. Prior experience in clinical research is strongly preferred.

This position is ideal for anybody looking to develop a clinical research toolbox within a unique pediatric rare disease space. The Clinical Research Postdoctoral Fellow will benefit from access to state-of-the-art research facilities and resources at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, mentorship from established clinical researchers and physician-scientists, as well as opportunities to contribute to publications and collaborate with other world-renowned clinician scientists affiliated with theGlobal Leukodystrophy Initiative Clinical Trials Network (GLIA-CTN).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data.

  • Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator).

  • Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills.

  • Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops.

  • Supervise junior lab members.

  • Assist with other research projects as needed.

SALARY RANGE:

$20,800.00 - $110,400.00 Annually

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
