JOB SUMMARY |
The Operations Control Planner is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the short and long term service region requirements to support current production planning, long term corporate growth, and new product development and manufacturing. This position will ensure purchased components and assemblies are procured and delivered to the internal customers on time to meet external customer demand, maintain inventory accuracy and control total plant inventory, lead continuous improvement efforts in procurement, supply base management, and warehousing. Matrix responsibilities with operations and support groups for production planning, shipping, receiving, and inventory functions. |
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Optimize production planning throughout organization leveraging SAP toolset to drive business systematically while increasing factory throughput
- Participate as a member of the operations team in making cross-functional operational decisions, including transformation planning and financial target setting to meet department safety, quality, delivery, cost and cash objectives
- Execute and continuously improve a lean material purchasing and handling system for purchased and assembled parts by ensuring a Plan for Every Part (PFEP), a properly located and managed parts market, a rigorous material-delivery route using standard work, and pull signals to tightly link their areas of continuous flow to the supply of materials. Responsible for developing and improving the internal materials purchasing and delivery system
- Develop, analyze and communicate location materials metrics and standards of performance
- Develop and execute a purchasing strategy to meet the company's business growth and materials requirements including monitoring supplier scorecard performance. Work with strategic supply commodity managers to improve supplier quality and delivery. Partner to optimize supply chain
- Implement and execute LEAN manufacturing in materials planning with accurate consumption projections and a strong internal relationship with production operations
- Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters
- Coordinate and work with quality, engineering, planning and operations to ensure 100% on-time delivery; drive root cause & corrective action to investigate and de-risk the future plan
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES |
- SAP scheduling functionality
- Experience in production planning / level scheduling in a highly complex low volume / high mix manufacturing environment
- Inventory (reduction, turns, accuracy)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess a working knowledge and understanding of lean principles and processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with ability to analyze data and trends to result in action
- Knowledge of issues and considerations for effectively managing local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods.
- Knowledge of processes, tools and operations considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle, ensuring we are efficiently supporting our process partners
- Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility
- Strong analytical skills and financial understanding

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
Required Education / Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in materials supply chain management, engineering, business or related field
Preferred Education / Experience
- Six Sigma Certification
- APICS Certification
