Responsibilities
Join our team! Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient psychiatric and partial hospitalization treatment for children and adolescents, ages 3 to 17. We strive to provide compassionate care to every patient we serve. JOB SUMMARY: Has 24 hour a day and seven day week responsibility for supervising all clinical program activities for Adolescent Boys and Pediatrics floor/unit(s). Supervision includes, but is not limited to, clinical programming, interactions with patients as well as implementing new programs and in-services as needed. Acts as a mentor to staff on the assigned floor/unit(s) and trains other staff on policies and procedures. Provides on-going supervision, training, and oversight of clinical activities within the milieu. Responsible for interviewing, recruitment, and making hiring recommendations. Ensures provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living. Conduct patient safety environmental rounds on units. Assesses the quality of our clinical programming to patients. Designs and leads implementation of clinical programming (STARS, ATP, TIP, etc.). Assures that clinical program manuals are current. Assists in monitoring for compliance with documentation standards via chart audits and direct observation of milieu staff. Clinical Program Manager is responsible for coverage in the event of staff call offs, resignations, etc., to assure maintenance of quality clinical services, in allignment with the Joint Commission and other accrediting organizations. Participates in rotating AOC schedule to provide administrative support/coverage for the entire hospital. For information about the benefits we offer, please visit UHS Benefits Service Center. Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Education: Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required. Experience: Minimum of three years experience working with psychiatric patient populations and management experience preferred. Licensure/Certification: LSW/LPC/LCSW/LCPC preferred. BLS Provider certification through the American Heart Association and CPI certification required. BLS Provider and CPI certifications must remain active throughout employment. Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, CPI leadership skills, diagnostic understanding behind behaviors often exhibited within milieu and CPR training. Supervision Received: Director of Clinical Services, Medical Director and Director of Nursing Supervision Exercised: Program Specialists and Mental Health Specialists Line of Promotion: Director of Clinical Services Working Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous wastes. Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
