What work will you perform?

The Vice President, International and Customs Services plays a critical role in promoting volume and revenue growth of international services with new and existing agents. The person in this position provides departmental leadership across the teams that support the international ocean operations and customs brokerage services. The person in this role is accountable for providing strategic guidance across education, sales, technology and operations critical to the advancement of both services.

The Vice President of International & Customs Services will report directly to the EVP of Business Development and will work cross-functionally with all departments on supporting efforts to International and customs

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Serve as subject matter expert on international freight operations including but not limited to: Maritime trade regulations for the United States, Freight forwarding operations and International shipping procurement methods
  • Develop and manage executive level relationships with ocean and drayage carriers
  • Qualify new agent prospects to operate international operations and support existing agent operations
  • Determine, implement and measure policy and procedures for department within ISO and Landstar Quality Management System
  • Provide guidance and oversight into technology solutions implemented in support of the international modes
  • Utilize advanced understanding of the specialized mode(s) operational requirements to guide best practices
  • Advocate, support, and promote training on all available agent tools and communication methods
  • Organize, structure, and coordinate the workflow of the department to achieve established goals



Required Minimum Experience and Education:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years previous management experience or related transportation management experience
  • 3+ years previous experience with a US based Ocean Transportation Intermediary (OTI)



Preferred Experience and Education:



  • Experience with U.S. Customs Regulations with active Customs Brokerage License
  • Experience with international logistics involving large cargo, heavy haul shipments



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Effectively communicate, both orally and written to all levels of employees and management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel capabilities
  • Work under pressure to meet customer and agent deadlines
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills
  • Travel: 10 - 25% Domestic and International
  • Active and current passport
