Position Overview This can be based in Denver, CO, Ashburn, VA and San Antonio, TX following our flexible work policy (3 days in-office, 2 days flexible). The Director of Energy Markets and Regulatory Strategy plays a critical role in guiding the company through complex regulatory proceedings and market approval processes to ensure the successful deployment and operation of energy infrastructure projects for hyperscale data centers. This position will lead Vantage's regulatory and energy market participation across North America, overseeing both an in-house team and external consultants. This role is responsible for monitoring all regulatory and market developments, engaging with utilities and public agencies, and ensuring alignment between energy project execution and evolving regulatory environments -across multiple jurisdictions. This position requires a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, utility tariffs, and wholesale power markets, with a strategic focus on securing timely approvals, managing risk, and enabling favorable commercial outcomes. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in power markets, regulatory frameworks, commercial energy contracting, and cross-functional program leadership. Essential Job Functions:
Leading our participation and strategy in utility tariff and market rule proceed ings that impact our data centers, including understanding the impact on required financial commitments, timing for interconnection, and power pricing Represent the company in key utility, ISO/RTO, and regulatory stakeholder engagements across North America Developing and promoting best practices for market rules and tariffs that impact the supply of energy to data centers With our project teams, ensuring the execution of power purchase agreements (PPAs), utility contracts, and energy infrastructure agreements meet the commercial needs of our customers, management, and investors Tracking and monitoring the data center tariff proceedings, with support from our regulatory attorney and policy team. Develop and manage energy-related risk assessments, including exposure to pricing, supply reliability, and regulatory changes. Provide strategic energy input during site selection, real estate acquisition, and data center development processes. Stakeholder engagement with utility commissions, policy makers, and energy market operators Advocacy in support of Vantage's operational, growth, and clean energy objectives
Duties:
Regulatory Strategy Monitor and interpret regulatory developments affecting power infrastructure, interconnection, permitting, and energy generation at federal, state, and local levels. Develop and execute regulatory engagement strategies in coordination with legal, government affairs, and energy project teams. Represent Vantage in regulatory proceedings, working groups, and public utility commission engagements as needed. Program Management Lead cross-functional programs focused on regulatory readiness, permitting pathways, and energy compliance. Establish consistent frameworks for managing utility regulatory submissions, data tracking, and internal governance across all North American markets. Collaborate with internal teams (construction, real estate, legal, and sustainability) to ensure proactive risk identification and mitigation. Utility Engagement & Stakeholder Alignment Build and maintain strategic relationships with utility providers, independent system operators (ISOs), public utility commissions (PUCs), and other energy market stakeholders. Support interconnection processes by aligning regulatory timelines with project delivery schedules. Advocate for infrastructure and policy outcomes that enable Vantage's growth and sustainability goals. Team Leadership & Development Lead a growing team of regulatory and energy markets professionals. Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to ensure consistent execution across diverse markets and jurisdictions. Additional duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in public policy, Engineering, Energy, Law, Environmental Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.* 10+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, energy infrastructure, utilities, or data center development. Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks and permitting processes related to electric transmission, generation, and interconnection. Familiarity with energy market structures across key North American jurisdictions (e.g., CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, NYISO). Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Proven ability to manage complex, multi-market programs with multiple stakeholders.

Additional Details
Salary Range: $180,000 - $190,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations) This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
