Job Summary

This position is in the Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Science located in the Ernest E. Tschannen Eye Institute. The role of the incumbent is to provide support and coordination in all aspects of the conduct of clinical trials at the Eye Center with an emphasis on regulatory and financial support.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Certification by the Society of Clinical Research Associates or the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
  • Two years of professional experience directly related to the required job duties
  • Minimum of two years experience as a clinical research coordinator.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in clinical research to conduct research trials and implement complex research protocols.
  • Advanced experience with leadership of research projects.
  • Knowledge of procedures, practices and regulations related to FDA, state & federal guidelines for clinical research involving human subjects.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, EPIC EMR, OnCore Clinical Trials Management System and AggieEnterprise.
  • Demonstrated experience with IRB administration forms and processes.
  • Administrative skills and ability to independently exercise good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness in making decisions.
  • Ability to work independently, meeting the scope of the program with minimal supervision and with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines.
  • Leadership skills to serve as mentor for junior staff
  • Demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills to effectively correspond with the general public, coworkers, physicians, patients, caregivers, clinic staff, and other health care professionals.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail in order to maintain a large volume of records accurately.
  • Ability to prioritize workload allowing completion of daily tasks or goals.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology, and ability to interpret physician notes, medical records, and laboratory results.
  • Ability to compose reports and correspondence using correct spelling and punctuation.
  • Ability to clearly document research data.
  • Possess mathematical abilities to perform calculations involving basic accounting.
  • Required to travel on occasion for training and educational purposes.
  • Required to work occasional overtime as work demands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of professional experience directly related to the required job duties

Department Overview

The Eye Center currently conducts over 40 studies including industry-sponsored and federally-funded clinical trials, as well as investigator-initiated clinical research. The Department's goals and objectives are to achieve excellence in patient care, teaching, research, and public service. The Eye Center faculty and staff are joined in mutual research efforts to seek new knowledge in the treatment and prevention of blinding eye diseases.

The specific role of the incumbent is to provide support and coordination in all aspects of the conduct of clinical trials at the Eye Center with an emphasis on regulatory and financial support.

Work Environment
