Job Summary

The Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid has overall management responsibility for the efficient and successful operation of a complex admission, recruitment, and outreach process designed to generate a student body of 500-600 Juris Doctor candidates; works in conjunction with the Law School Admission Committee to evaluate and select a diverse group of academically outstanding applicants utilizing a process in which all files are reviewed individually; ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; conducts a national recruitment and outreach effort for the best law students in the country; has decision making responsibility for administration and management of Admissions and Financial Aid and oversees the expenditure of annual outreach funding; conducts research and analysis; prepares reports on all aspects of the process. Work under the supervision of the Law School Dean on a variety of admissions matters, and in conjunction with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Juris Doctorate from an A.B.A. approved law school.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience helping to lead a successful admissions or recruiting program in a higher education or Law School environment.
  • Senior level management experience in analyzing program needs, establishing priorities, resource assessment, budget development and goal setting.
  • Experience and team building skills to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, resolve problems/conflicts, conduct performance management and build an effective service-oriented, team environment.
  • Experience to initiate and execute complex programs and strategies.
  • Proven track record in enrollment management strategies, and methods of marketing and recruiting in higher education, law school or graduate/professional school setting.
  • Marketing and Public Relations skills to represent the School of Law and the university with a high degree of persuasiveness and effectiveness in speech and in writing with potential students and in the legal community. Demonstrated strong writing skills to prepare cogent and persuasive correspondence, proposals, and reports. Demonstrated success in supervision of staff with the skills to create the structure and practices that allow for staff and self to continuously upgrade capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and work effectively with diverse groups of people and organizations, including students from underrepresented groups and various socio-economic backgrounds. Skills to display a high degree of professional ethics, enthusiasm for promoting the Law School and successful recruitment of students. In-depth knowledge of and direct experience with undergraduate colleges and universities. Ability to speak effectively; skilled at group and public presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in law school admissions and financial aid.
  • Demonstrated experience with ensuring compliance with all federal, state and university regulations and policies as they relate to Financial Aid.
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, national trends in admissions.
  • Familiarity with campus issues, policies, procedures, practices in the areas of student programs and business and personnel administration.

Work Environment
