As a Driver Trainee, you will be an essential part of our team, learning and developing the skills necessary to become a proficient Airgas driver. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Onboarding and training alongside new and existing Airgas drivers.

  • Gaining knowledge of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requirements.

  • Developing strong computer and communication skills.

  • Assisting with audits of branches and plants for Department of Transportation (DOT) and Forklift compliance.

  • Supporting Assistant Safety Managers (ASMs) and the Director of Safety with compliance issues.

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following:

  • CDL Class A or B.

  • Good computer skills.

  • Ability to travel overnight 3-4 days a week.

  • Excellent communication skills (by phone, email, and in person).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least one year of CDL Class A or B driving experience with like equipment or graduated from an accredited truck driving school.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the Company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and to calculate percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
