Overview:

At BlueHalo/AV, we are shaping the future of defense and aerospace systems through innovation, precision, and operational excellence. As a Senior Production Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enabling high-reliability production through technical leadership, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. You will drive production readiness from prebuy planning through product delivery, as well as post-delivery warranty and service, by ensuring alignment across engineering, supply chain, procurement, and operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly support production engineering activities, in a hands-on manner, across multiple programs and product lines.
  • Provide day-to-day manufacturing/QC/QA support on the production floor, testing and fixing hardware, driving root cause analysis and resolution of process issues, non-conformances, and yield concerns.
  • Lead material planning and forecasting activities to align with program needs, ensuring timely availability of materials and components in office and across various subcontractors.
  • Partner with procurement, supply chain, and purchasing teams to support supplier readiness, component sourcing strategies, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Sustain existing manufacturing processes, tooling, and work instructions to support scalable and efficient production - both internally as well as supporting or contract manufacturing facilities on the west coast.
  • Administer and continuously improve production control systems, working closely with operations to ensure schedule adherence and resource efficiency.
  • Coordinate design-for-manufacturability (DFM) efforts with R&D, systems, and hardware engineering teams to ensure seamless transition from development to production.
  • Lead and support configuration control, production readiness reviews (PRRs), and design change implementation.
  • Track and report key production metrics including throughput, cycle time, quality yield, and material availability.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of make/buy strategies and supply chain risk assessments.
  • Participate in capital equipment planning and facility layout improvements to support current and future production demand.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support talent development within the production engineering team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a production, manufacturing, or industrial engineering role.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Strong understanding of material planning systems (e.g., MRP/ERP), BOM structures, and production scheduling principles.
  • Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing, root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, Fishbone), and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or managing procurement and supply chain functions within a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronic systems manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, IPC standards, and quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with PLM tools and digital thread initiatives.
  • Active SECRET Security Clearance, or ability to obtain one.
