Description
- Service all peoples' needs with open and honest communications between employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Contact various sources of labor supply to recruit manpower; interview job applicants and check personal qualifications against job requirements; refer applicants to plant supervisory personnel for interview and approval; investigate references and handles detail of employee induction.
- Set up and maintain general control methods, records, and files as required for effective personnel functions.
- Develop and supervise training programs, and personally participate in new-employee orientation as needed.
- Assist in keeping all employees informed of all changes in personnel policies, and counsel with employees on personnel questions. Also, assist in the solutions and appropriate adjustments to complaints received from all employees.
- Assures that all company employment, safety, labor relations, personnel, and equal opportunity policies and practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including the proper documentation and record keeping.
- Develop, train, and administer programs of employee appraisal and review to insure that employee performance is evaluated and that the employees are made aware of their evaluation.
- Tour the plant occasionally to inspect machinery and processes to ascertain safety of operations and compliance with mandatory existing laws, rules, and regulations.
- Administration of all benefit programs to include group health, 401K, education assistance, and any other programs of the type.
- Assist all aspects of plant safety to help assure safety and OSHA compliance of all state and federal guidelines including the Hazard Communication Program.
- Assist in the administration of all corrective action for attendance and disciplinary matters as needed.
- Develop and promote employee enrichment programs.
- Monitor the training needs of current employees and schedule as needed.
- Oversee the apprenticeship program and has authority to authorize classes and expenses.
- Maintain workers compensation program including the monitoring of all accident reports and following up on all claims, and maintain OSHA required record keeping. Authority to authorize treatment.
- Write job descriptions to assist compliance with ADA and other programs as needed.
- When disciplinary action is necessary, authorized to carry out in accordance with plant policy and that it is duly recorded. The corporate Human Resource Manager should be consulted if unsure of procedure.
- Conduct periodic surveys to recommend changes in the continuous upgrade of a more comprehensive employment handbook.
- Conduct wage surveys to ensure the company maintains competitive within the local market.
- Lead and support LTA, MOS and Continuous Improvement programs.
- In EMS, manages training, emergency drills and first aid/CPR and other items as assigned.
- Performs other essential functions as assigned.
