Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Provides initial advising for students on programs and certificates specific to workforce, GED or continuing education classes. Registers students in all Continuing Education classes. Supports other staff by performing task-orientated duties while providing clerical, analytical, administrative and operational support under general supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Has developed specialized skills through job-related training and substantial on-the-job experience
  2. Completes work with a limited degree of supervision
  3. Advises students on proper course selection for continuing education workforce programs including recommended course sequence, course prerequisites, co-requisites, course load, supplies, textbooks, testing, immunizations, and certifications to encourage individual student success
  4. Registers and drops students for all continuing education classes
  5. Answers multiple phone lines, takes messages, and/or transfers callers; Records messages from voicemail and returns phone calls in a timely manner
  6. Assists student with online registration in person and via phone
  7. Provides students with information and proper referrals to available resources and services on campus
  8. Replies to emails directed to CE Registration in a timely manner
  9. Generates Workforce Development and Course Certificates for students completing courses and workforce plans
  10. Collects and processes necessary documents required to enroll students in GED; Registers students in the appropriate exams and provides students with oral and written instructions to take the exam
  11. Assists GED examiner by providing GED documentation
  12. Contacts students, instructors and staff regarding class cancellations or posteponement
  13. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to use software products
  • Ability to work on multiple projects
  • Ability to document expenses

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $15.14
