The Opportunity

Our Management System & Governance Group is currently seeking an Initiative Coordinator to join our team, based in Calgary, AB or Houston, TX.

Reporting into the TOMS Governance & Reporting team within Safety & Technical Services, the Initiative Coordinator is responsible for providing tactical support and coordination of strategic initiatives to drive best in class performance and continuous improvement. This position works to balance operational feasibility with technical best practice and enhance the effectiveness of initiatives to ensure the processes and procedures we use are safe, reliable, effective, and add value.

What you'll do

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the coordination and execution of strategic initiatives across the organization

  • Support the development and execution of initiative implementation strategies and plans

  • Coordinate across business units to develop, test, and implement initiative deliverables

  • Project manage initiative activities in collaboration with the Functional and Business Unit representatives

  • Coordinate and facilitate the DTT and Challenge activities within the governance process

  • Provide support to initiative leads to fulfill their responsibilities

  • Steward initiatives from a system perspective, ensuring end-to-end alignment with agreed to objectives

  • Build organizational competency, including contributing to the development and delivery of tools and training

  • Actively facilitate cross-functional teams to design and implement improvements

  • Provide co-facilitation support to other initiative coordinators as required

  • Report on initiative activities and maintain the appropriate records and materials on behalf of the initiatives

  • Establish and execute comprehensive communication strategies and plans to support initiative implementation

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible communications for various stakeholders

  • Relentlessly focus the organization on driving improved results, efficiency, and standardization

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Technical Diploma in a related field

  • 8+ years of related experience in oil, gas, energy, utilities and/or process industries

  • 3-5 years of experience in project coordination or initiative implementation

  • 3 years of facilitation and/or training experience

  • Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into implementable action plans

  • Demonstrated track record of improvement initiatives and the ability to influence without positional authority

  • Strong communications background with experience developing and executing communication strategies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Front-line operational experience in oil, gas, energy, utilities, and/or process industries

  • Facilitation and/or Coaching Certification

  • Project Management Certification

  • Organizational Change Management Certification (e.g., Prosci, Kotter, etc.)

  • Experience developing and deploying adult learning programs

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)

  • Travel across North America to other company or supplier locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up to 10% of work schedule)
