Job Summary:

This role is to provide process engineering support for the ongoing operation and continuous improvement of all Messer plants in the Americas and of the needs of the engineering support organization.

Principal Responsibilities:

* Support continuous improvement in plant efficiency through resolution of identified efficiency gaps, supporting operating center engineers or regional engineers as appropriate

* Provide technical support for problem solving, troubleshooting and debottlenecking at Messer Gas production sites.

* Creation, ongoing development, and management of change of plant power models

* Support process audits and Plant Efficiency Reviews

* Engineering Management of Change (EMOC) review. Support field submission of process related changes.

* Process engineering in support of region lead projects

o heat and material balances, pressure balances, process specification for valves and equipment. P&ID mark ups and review.

* Participate in HAZOPs and P&ID Reviews

* Identify efficiency and throughput improvement opportunities and engineer solutions

* Work with project teams to support business development using existing assets

* Support continuous improvement within the operations support department, e.g. updating technical plant documentation, development of design standards, engineering tools, IMSS chapters, etc.

Required Skills:

* Strong problem solving and analytical skills

* Good communications skills and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams

* Strong aptitude in plant based heat and material balances and current working knowledge of process simulation tool(s)

* Strong fundamental understanding of thermodynamics, transport phenomena and unit operations

* Ability to lay out and progress rigorous analysis and problem solving with heavy degrees of ambiguity, complexity, and incompleteness of data

* Ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical action in an operating plant. Practical, hands-on familiarity with plant processes and equipment.

* Experience working in a plant environment

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering

* Minimum 3 years of experience in process engineering/process design or related field.

* Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
